Delivering a Cybersecurity Mentoring Session with Clarion

Partnering with our client, Clarion Housing Group, we delivered an B2B Mentoring Session on cybersecurity for small businesses and community groups to help them understand key challenges and how they can approach them with confidence.

On the 2nd of June, our Chief Information Officer, Phil White, conducted a cybersecurity workshop in collaboration with the Digital Support team at Clarion Futures, Clarion’s charitable foundation, who run a range of workshops and support sessions for residents and members of the local community who report feeling digitally excluded.

The session, titled “Capacity+: Get Online 4 Good”, addressed key topics including:

  • Data as an asset and a vulnerability
  • How to prepare and plan for cybersecurity breaches
  • The importance of defensive mechanisms in the age of AI

Attendees, who included representatives from the Chichester Community Development Trust, Mole Valley Employment & Skills Hub and other small community organisations, were also given the opportunity to ask questions about cybersecurity and general IT issues.

This session follows on from a previous B2B Mentoring Session that taught SMEs and Clarion charity partners how to use Canva to design graphics and presentations for their organisations.

Working with Clarion to deliver these B2B sessions has allowed us to build connections with local community groups and help fight digital exclusion. We hope the skills participants have gained through these workshops will support their organisations to continue supporting their local communities.

There was a strong Q&A session, with the attendees asking about topics covering Information and Cyber Security, budgets and general cyber best practices. These workshops demonstrate our strong relationship with Clarion and our support of the Clarion Futures programme.

It’s fantastic to see partners bringing their expertise directly into our communities. Sessions like this not only raise awareness of cybersecurity but also give people practical tools they can use straight away. Building digital confidence is a key part of tackling exclusion, and collaborations like this make a real difference.
