When applying to be a CLC subcontractor or supplier, who sees my data and how is it being used?
Your company’s details will be available to CLC staff who are given permission to use the supply chain portal to complete their jobs. Before your company has been approved, your details will be reviewed by relevant internal departments e.g. Finance, Health and Safety, Sustainability etc. to ensure the correct information has been supplied.
Once approved, CLCs’ Contract Managers will use the directory to search for companies to deliver work specific to the job’s requirements. Your company details will not be visible to or shared with any other organisation. CLCs’ commercial team will also use your information and terms you’ve signed up to, to ensure work has been delivered to the correct standard.
What are the benefits of applying to be a CLC subcontractor?
Once you’ve registered as a CLC subcontractor, you and your company will be searchable and ready to be found via CLCs’ approved supply chain list. Here, you’ll be able to showcase your services and expertise as well as your relevant certifications and licenses, which are essential if you want to carry out work on CLCs’ behalf.
You can also update your profile at any time with renewed or additional documentation and inform us of any new products or services that you are able to provide.
CLC Contract Managers are encouraged to rate and give feedback on subcontractor work. Exceptional work and feedback will enable you to stand out from the crowd when promoting your services to CLC Budget Holding employees.
Can I still apply to be a CLC subcontractor if I don’t have the right level of insurance or safety documents?
Just because you or your business have not obtained all of the documentation on the requirements list, it does not mean that you cannot apply to be a CLC subcontractor. We run a watertight supply chain so that we can provide only the best quality of service for our clients, therefore an additional review is necessary before we can confirm the next steps.
If you have outstanding documentation that you’re unable to provide, or have a question before or during the online application process, send us an email. You’ll need to let us know a little about what services you or company provides so that we can review your request.
What are your payment terms?
We value our people and believe in the importance of ensuring all of our partners are paid correctly and on time. All suppliers are paid on a 30-day term against the invoice date. Subcontractors can choose from the following payment types:
Some of CLC’s divisions and contracts may carry different terms, but these would be negotiated before work starts.
Which accreditations and verifications do I need to become a subcontractor?
All of our subcontractors must provide CIS verification for all company partners and give evidence of any assessments of accreditations that the business has passed (CHAS, Safe Contractor, Exor etc.).
Businesses must also provide their Health and Safety Policy, in addition to information about who is responsible for Health and Safety. Risk assessments are also required during the application process.
For services that include any aspect of gas, electrics, asbestos or scaffolding, businesses must also demonstrate the associated trades and confirm to the credential to supply them. Businesses providing these services must also ensure that their operatives have the valid qualifications for their relevant trade. These are stated specifically for Gas (Gas Safe), Electric (NECCEIC) or Scaffold (CISRS).
All businesses wishing to subcontract for CLC must also ensure that any operative or subcontractors working on behalf of CLC have been DBS checked. Anyone carrying out onsite work on behalf of CLC must also possess a valid CSCS card that is carried at all times when working with us.
We also ask that all businesses joining our subcontractor fleet support our Training Levy, whereby 2% is deducted from all payments. This pool of funds contributes to training and apprenticeship programmes which play a crucial role in our work to tackle the labour shortage.
You’ll be prompted to upload documents relevant to the trade or service your company provides to complete your application. Common documents required include:
What sort of businesses can become subcontractors?
Our subcontractors play a vital role in providing the diverse array of services that we provide to our public and private sector clients. We subcontract a range of Limited Companies, Sole Traders and Partners who specialise in a range of trades and services, some of which include:
