Our Walsall branch achieve Bronze Partner Walsall Works Award

Following a recent training partnership with Walsall Housing Group (WHG), we're thrilled to announce we have been presented with a Bronze Partner Walsall Works award.

After the brilliant work our Walsall branch have been doing on ‘Project UPLIFT’, we were nominated in partnership with Walsall Housing Group (WHG) for the training and employment opportunities we offered as part of the first ever women into construction course.

Aimed at encouraging more women into the construction industry, the pilot scheme saw the group of 10 women develop their skills in painting, decorating and refurbishment works. As part of the initiative, participants spent six weeks learning a range of skills including painting and decorating, tiling, Asbestos awareness, health and safety and interview preparation. We worked closely with them throughout the 6 weeks and gave them an opportunity to work on a live project at Butcroft House which saw them redecorate the communal areas of the building.

Following the scheme, we offered two of the women full-time employment with CLC and have continued to nurture their strengths and skills as employees.

The Walsall Works award recognises our commitment to offering work placements and employability support to long term unemployed residents and disadvantaged groups not in education, employment or training. It also recognises our working relationship with Walsall Council and our efforts to provide communities with industry-specific skills and encouraging more diversity within the workplace.

Congratulations to our Walsall branch for all their recent efforts and commitments to the local community which has led to them achieving this award.
