Maintaining community spirit and assisting those in need, the Southampton Junior Wardens have been encouraging and rejuvenating the city for generations. As a 'Thank You' we have sponsored them to attend The Mayflower Theatre's Christmas Pantomime this December.
With over 160 children participating in the scheme across Southampton, the Junior Neighbourhood Warden is designed to give children between the ages of 7 and 12 an opportunity to participate in community projects across the city. From painting to gardening to visiting the elderly in care homes, the children are taught important life lessons about the environment, recycling and assisting those in need. All coupled with developing a sense of pride in their work.
Our journey with the Junior Neighbourhood Wardens began a few years ago when we provided external painting services to Sturminster House in Shirley, where the children were due to paint murals to enhance the residential area. Originally, the external of the building was drab and dark and wouldn’t have provided the right background for their nature-themed mural so we gave the walls a lick of white paint to provide the perfect canvas.
From our ongoing commitment to helping the local community, we have seen first hand the hard work that the Neighbourhood Warden Team put in to help local children grow, make friends and learn about society. Not only do the children build their confidence and life skills with each project they undertake but the local community also benefits from the improvements. This year, we have rewarded their hard work by sponsoring 60 tickets so the children can enjoy the Christmas pantomime this year. Oh, no we haven’t. Oh, YES we have!
Well done to all the children involved in brightening this city through their hard work. They should all be very proud of themselves and we wish them a very enjoyable time.
