Our Southampton branch joins forces with The Rainbow Project

Our Southampton division has recently joined forces with The Rainbow Project to provide a vulnerable young person the opportunity to gain some work experience with CLC.

Established in 1981, The Rainbow Project has been helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young people reach their full potential through supported work experience and employment opportunities. Working with young people aged 16 to 24, the charity helps them to overcome any barriers they have put up, build their self-confidence and help with securing future, meaningful employment.

In partnership with the charity, our Southampton team offered a local lad, Owen, a four-week work experience placement to learn more about the different building trades. Following his roaring success during this period, he was taken on as a full-time Improver Operative.

Speaking of the experience, Owen says:

The four-week work experience was really good. I learnt so many more life skills and experienced a trade first-hand. I really liked the framework of the work experience and  learnt how to cut fibreglass and plasterboard within the first week.”

Our HR Manager (South) has praised the collaboration between CLC and the charity, saying that the experience “…has been very positive for the company…and that I hope we can continue this relationship for some time to come“.

CLC is continuing to support Owen in the next steps of his career and look forward to partnering with the Rainbow Project again to help change the life of another local resident.
