Works at The Crest in Leamington Spa have begun! Lasting 18 months, the works are to provide fire safety compliance and a freshened redecoration to these behind the times tower blocks.
After a successful tender, earlier this year, we have started work on the £4m framework with Warwick District Council to renovate and provide new fire safety and precaution works across Leamington Spa.
Taking place across 9 tower blocks, the scope of the works include a full re-wiring of the blocks, passive fire suppression works, redecoration and flooring throughout. The buildings that we are working across were originally built between 1959 – 1961 and as such come with asbestos and lead contamination challenges. Before works begin, we carry out risk assessments for both asbestos and lead contamination in the existing paint and make sure all operatives working on site receive additional asbestos awareness and safe working practices training. We will work closely with the client’s approved contractors to assess any risks involved within the buildings and they will remove any asbestos before our operatives commence work.
We will be carrying out the works across the blocks concurrently and as a result have reduced the programme length from 3 years down to just 18 months. Works across the blocks are due for final handover in the third quarter of 2019.
We wish our dedicated team the best of luck on this new contract.
