For this project, we were tasked with the reconfiguration of the checkout areas and the installation of three new sushi bars in the Monmouth, Windsor and Banstead stores.
CLC has been working with Waitrose for many years on a variety of electrical and refurbishment work including maintenance, data cabling, fire alarm installations, redecoration, trolley bay and electronic point-of-sale installations.
The Project
For this project, we were tasked with the reconfiguration of the checkout areas and the installation of three new sushi bars in the Monmouth, Windsor and Banstead stores. Waitrose’s partnership with Sushi Daily provides shoppers with freshly made sushi made by expert sushi chefs. Waitrose set a high standard for their stores, and this project was no exception.
Innovations
This project created a lot of challenges for the team in terms of logistics and planning. We were able to overcome these challenges by working together with the client to work out the best way to get the job completed while avoiding disruption to customers.
We completed the work during the night when the stores were closed, which needed to be completed in a way that ensured that the store could still run smoothly during the day. Working nights posed challenges for operatives due to the unsociable hours and altering schedules. The health and well-being of our staff were extremely important to us, and we provided support and training to manage this.
Our Solution
To ensure we established a comprehensive delivery programme, our dedicated National Electrical Manager served as the main Project Manager for all works under this contract and attended every pre-start meeting for each individual project. The installation of the sushi bars in all three locations entailed terrazzo floor removal and reinstatement, power and data wiring, ductwork, sprinklers, specialist equipment installation and a low-level, self-supported wall installed for the new self-service units to be mounted against plus redecoration.
The Results
The check-out area was completely reconfigured, and the sushi bar was installed on time and to a high standard. Our can-do attitude and commitment to our relationship with Waitrose have led to increased customer satisfaction over the years. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Waitrose and completing further projects.
