The Cheltenham Chase Hotel Refurbishment

We partnered with Aprirose to provide the luxury Cheltenham Chase Hotel with a complete renovation of their ground floor public areas.

After the acquisition of Marriot and Q Hotels, the beautiful base for the Cotswolds required work within their Reception, Dining and Bar areas including 94 bedrooms. Spread across the course of 15 weeks, we completed the work whilst the hustle and bustle of the hotel continued around us.

The Project

A spacious luxury hotel, situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Cheltenham Chase Hotel is the perfect base for both commuters and tourists alike. With over 500 bedrooms and lively restaurant and reception areas, the four star hotel was in need of a fresh new look and a lick of paint.

The project saw us complete refurbishment and redecoration works within the Front of House, Restaurant, Bar and Event Rooms including replacement flooring, curved partition construction, electrical upgrades, security and the installation of a “Grab and Go” food station.

Our Solution

With the revamp beginning during July, our team of six worked through the summer months to give the communal areas a nice fresh look.  During the project, we worked within a live environment and used our unique understanding and expertise of the hotel industry to programme works around the needs of guests and operation of the hotel.

On one occasion, we were working within a series of bedrooms over the course of 5 days when some last minute reservations came in and reduced our allocation down to 3 days. Using our flexible approach, we assigned operatives from other areas of the building to the bedrooms to complete them before the guests arrived for their stay.

Added Value

With high ceilings and large open windows, the hotel has a light and airy feel to the public areas. Due to this, we needed to use mobile towers to paint the ceilings. Health and Safety is a top priority for us so to reduce the impact on guests, we arranged to complete these works after the restaurant had closed. We used Chapter 8 barriers around the working site and worked throughout the night, being mindful of guests sleeping at all times.

After our preliminary meeting, the client spoke of their tired looking front of house area. We’ve all heard the old saying “you never get a second chance to make a first impression” so we recommended we lighten this area and build a concave partition wall from the bar giving a new look and welcoming feel to the foyer.

The Result

The comfortably luxurious hotel now has a freshened, clean look for visitors and staff alike to enjoy throughout the years to come. We received extremely positive verbal feedback from the client including a thank you card from the general manager and his team.

Following completion, we have also been awarded additional works including redecoration of the hallways to the bedrooms. We are also completing similar works for the client at The Nottingham Belfry Hotel.
