We recently combined forces with our client CarillionAmey to help improve an outside learning area for Service children who attend the primary school at Weeton Barracks.
CLC staff helped to bring fun and excitement to a primary school in Weeton Barracks, by creating an outdoor ‘mud kitchen’ for the children using spare materials. Children, parents and teachers have all raved about the finished result. Other volunteers including the Local Service wives created a ‘bug hotel’ and a climbing tower made from old tyres. Soldiers from the 2 LANCS spent the day digging to give the children a log walk, a tyre walk and a new seating area.
Everyone worked tirelessly to finish the project within a day, despite the heat and blazing sun. Children, parents and teachers are all impressed with the new playground and can’t wait to start enjoying it.
The head teacher was delighted and wrote a thank you letter to all the volunteers saying, “A huge thank you to everyone who helped out this week. The children are eager to get out and play!”
