CLC was awarded a refurbishment contract with Avery Healthcare in September 2008. The contract was for the refurbishment of The Cedars, at Landford, Salisbury (part of the Avery Healthcare Care Home Group).
The nursing care home has a history dating back to the 1880’s and sits in 4.5 acres of scenic parkland, now part of the New Forest National Park. The refurbishment of the historic property included the conversion of 26 bedrooms into 22 bedrooms, with refurbishment of the building’s communal areas, bathrooms and hallways.
Extensive building alterations to the care home were needed to enable en-suite bathrooms to be installed in the accommodation suites and to ensure that the building posed no risk to the occupying residents with the dipped ceilings and unlevel flooring. The care homes clinic area was extended to encompass an en-suite bathroom for residents to use when visiting the clinic, as well as creating a space which was hygienic and easily maintained. DDA works were carried out throughout, with nurse calling points and movement sensors installed in the bathrooms. Further works included external window, facia and gable repairs. Once the internal works had been completed CLC tarmaced the front entrance car park to enable more on-site parking for residents and visitors. The contract delivered excellent results for the client and has enabled CLC to establish a good relationship with the Avery Healthcare Group.
